About me
Hi! My name is Amy.
From the moment I successfully ordered a croissant in French on a school trip to France, I knew I was a linguaphile. I'll never forget the joy of seeing that flicker of recognition in the baker's eyes. Ever since then, I have been seeking a deeper connection with languages. I studied French and German at university, working in Germany for one year as part of my studies, and went on to live in France and more recently in Brussels.
I have an MA in Interpreting and Translation from the University of Bath and worked as an in-house interpreter in Brussels from 2017-2021. After completing one-to-one retour training, I successfully added a French B to my combination in 2019. Using my experience and TEFL qualification, I'd like to pass on these skills and give something back to budding retourists, English learners and French and German enthusiasts.
I provide 1-to-1 English retour coaching.
I help interpreters to fine-tune their English retour, working on the nuances of the English language such as intonation, collocations and register. Not only am I familiar with interpreting best practice, but, having added a B language myself, I can support you through the joys and challenges of acquiring and maintaining a retour.

I teach speaking and listening skills to beginners through to advanced learners. With me, you can perfect your tenses and prepositions, learn how to confidently use phrasal verbs and expressions and to speak fluently about a wide range of topics. My lessons will equip you with a transferrable skillset so that you're conversation, business meeting or seminar-ready.
I provide 1-to-1 French & German tutoring
Whether you're a complete beginner, preparing for exams or heading on holiday, I can help you to expand your vocabulary, master grammar points, perfect your pronunciation or hone your holiday phrases.
